Hey there 👋

I'm DJ, Big Tech software engineer with a graveyard of failed side projects in my wake. A podcast platform using Bitcoin micropayments, a blog monetization tool, a scheduling automation bot for immigrants... some launched with users but no revenue, others found revenue but tiny markets, and a few never made it past development.

After years of building things that didn't quite work out, I decided to try something different: instead of starting from scratch, I bought a small SaaS business (BaseQL) to accelerate my learning journey. It's a GraphQL API for Airtable that helps developers build custom applications faster.

Why This Blog?

I'm documenting my journey from technical founder to (hopefully) well-rounded entrepreneur. Expect honest stories about:

  • Growing a micro-SaaS as a technical person learning marketing
  • Experiments in growth and automation
  • The reality of balancing a side business with a full-time job
  • Lessons learned along the way (often the hard way)

My goal isn't to become the next unicorn founder – I'm looking to build something sustainable that gives me more freedom and autonomy while working on interesting problems.

Current Status

  • 🏢 Senior Software Engineer @ Big Tech
  • 🚀 Running BaseQL (40+ paying customers, growing slowly)
  • 📚 Learning marketing, growth, and general business skills
